Built-In Electric Ovens – Single & Double Ovens
Shop built-in electric ovens from AEG, Miele, Neff, Bosch, Smeg, Fisher & Paykel, Bertazzoni and other leading appliance brands. Choose from single and double ovens, pyrolytic self-cleaning models and electric ovens with added steam or full combi-steam cooking. Compare installation size, oven capacity, cleaning system, energy rating, controls and smart features to find the right model for your kitchen.
Shop electric ovens by type
- Single ovens - the standard choice for most fitted kitchens, with a wide selection of conventional, fan, pyrolytic and steam-assisted models.
- Double ovens - two cooking cavities give you more flexibility when dishes need different temperatures or cooking times.
- Pyrolytic ovens - high-temperature cleaning programmes break down baked-on food residue so the remaining ash can be wiped away.
- Ovens with steam cooking - includes models that add moisture during baking and roasting as well as more advanced combi-steam ovens.
- Steam ovens - compare steam-focused appliances and combination steam ovens where steam cooking is a priority.
How to choose a built-in electric oven
Start with the installation space rather than the feature list. Most full-size built-in single ovens are designed for a standard kitchen oven housing, but cabinet cut-out dimensions, ventilation requirements and electrical loads vary by model. Compact and extra-wide ovens are also available, so always check the manufacturer's installation drawing before ordering.
Next decide how much cooking space you actually need. A single oven is suitable for most households and gives you the widest choice of features. A double oven provides two separate cavities, which is useful if you regularly cook several dishes at different temperatures or want to grill in one compartment while using the main oven.
Pyrolytic, catalytic or steam cleaning?
Pyrolytic cleaning is the most intensive self-cleaning option. The oven uses a high-temperature programme to break down food residue, leaving ash that can be wiped away when the programme has finished.
Catalytic cleaning uses treated liners to help deal with grease during normal cooking. It reduces cleaning work but does not clean every surface in the same way as a pyrolytic programme.
Steam or hydrolytic cleaning uses moisture to soften food deposits so they are easier to wipe away. It is a cleaning aid rather than the same process as pyrolytic self-cleaning. Check the individual model specification because the cleaning systems available differ considerably across the range.
What do steam oven features actually do?
Not every oven described as having steam works in the same way. Some models introduce a controlled amount of moisture alongside conventional heat, which can help with bread, roasting and foods where you want moisture inside and browning outside. AEG calls this type of feature SteamCrisp on selected models.
More advanced combi-steam ovens can cook with a much greater proportion of steam as well as conventional hot air. For example, selected AEG SteamPro ovens support steaming, baking, roasting and sous-vide cooking. Similar full combination-steam capability is available on selected Miele DGC, Fisher & Paykel and Bertazzoni models currently sold in the range.
If steam is a priority, check whether the appliance is an electric oven with added steam, a full combination steam oven or a dedicated steam oven. They are not interchangeable product types.
Oven controls and smart features
The range includes everything from conventional rotary controls to colour touch displays and connected ovens. Smart connectivity can be useful for functions such as remote status information, selected oven controls and connected cooking guidance, but it should not be treated as essential if straightforward manual controls are more important to you.
Manufacturer feature names also describe different functions. NEFF Slide&Hide, for example, refers to an oven door that retracts beneath the cavity on compatible single ovens. It is not a feature of NEFF double ovens. Always check the individual product rather than assuming every oven from a brand includes its headline technology.
Capacity and installation
Do not compare ovens on external width alone. Check the usable cavity capacity, number of shelf levels and cabinet cut-out dimensions as well. Two ovens designed for a similar kitchen housing can have different internal capacities and installation requirements.
Electrical requirements also vary. Do not assume every built-in oven uses a standard plug connection. Check the manufacturer's rated load, fuse requirement and installation instructions and arrange suitable electrical work where required.
Electric oven energy ratings
Current models in this category include A, A+ and A++ rated ovens. Energy class is useful when comparing otherwise similar models, but cavity size, cooking functions and how the oven is used also affect real-world electricity consumption.
Electric ovens FAQs
What is the difference between a single oven and a double oven?
A single oven has one main cooking cavity. A double oven provides two separate cavities, allowing different temperatures or functions to be used at the same time. Double ovens are particularly useful for households that regularly prepare several dishes together.
Is a pyrolytic oven worth buying?
Pyrolytic cleaning is useful if reducing manual oven cleaning is a priority. The programme heats the cavity to a very high temperature to break down cooking residue, which can then be wiped away after the cycle. Models with catalytic or steam-cleaning systems generally require more manual wiping.
What is the difference between added steam and a combination steam oven?
An oven with added steam introduces moisture during selected conventional cooking programmes. A combination steam oven offers more extensive steam cooking alongside normal oven functions. Check the individual model's steam modes because capabilities vary substantially.
What size built-in electric oven do I need?
Measure the kitchen cabinet opening and compare it with the manufacturer's required niche dimensions. Standard full-size single ovens are commonly designed for 60cm kitchen housings, but compact and wider ovens are also available. Do not rely only on the dimensions shown in a product title.
Do built-in electric ovens need professional installation?
Installation requirements depend on the model and its electrical load. Check the manufacturer's installation instructions, required circuit protection, ventilation clearances and cabinet dimensions before fitting. Use a suitably qualified installer where the electrical connection or kitchen installation requires it.
Can I control an electric oven from my phone?
Selected connected ovens support app-based features, but smart functionality is not standard across the category. Check the individual product specification for Wi-Fi or manufacturer app compatibility before buying.
