The uStream range includes compact wireless stereo speakers, more powerful two-way and three-way speaker systems, portable stereo products and equipment for wireless vinyl playback. Choose according to room size, required connections and how you intend to listen rather than power output alone.
Mitchell Acoustics uStream Speakers Compared
| Speaker type | Best suited to | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Compact full-range stereo | Bedrooms, kitchens and smaller rooms | Compact cabinets and simple full-range driver design |
| Two-way stereo | Everyday music and TV listening | Separate bass/mid and treble drivers for greater frequency separation |
| Co-axial two-way stereo | Larger rooms and wider listening areas | Tweeter and woofer share the same acoustic axis for more consistent imaging |
| Three-way stereo | Larger rooms and higher-output listening | Dedicated treble, mid-range and bass drivers divide the frequency range between three drivers |
What Is True Wireless Stereo?
Mitchell Acoustics uStream speaker systems use separate left and right speakers to create a conventional stereo soundstage without requiring an audio cable between the two speakers. The speakers pair with each other wirelessly, allowing them to be positioned apart so music and television audio can reproduce distinct left and right channels.
The speakers are active, so amplification is built into the system rather than requiring a separate hi-fi amplifier. Each speaker still requires the appropriate power connection, and external inputs vary between models.
Choosing Mitchell Acoustics Speakers
For smaller rooms
A compact stereo pair is generally the most practical starting point for bedrooms, kitchens, home offices and smaller living areas. The smaller uStream systems retain separate left and right speakers without requiring the space of larger hi-fi cabinets.
For music and television
If the speakers will also be connected to a television, check the inputs on the individual model. Selected Mitchell Acoustics systems include HDMI ARC and optical connections as well as Bluetooth, allowing them to handle both wireless music playback and wired television audio.
For larger rooms
Larger two-way and three-way systems provide greater amplifier output and use dedicated drivers to divide the audio spectrum. This makes them better suited to larger rooms or listeners who want more output and stronger bass performance from a stereo pair.
Mitchell Acoustics for Vinyl
The uStream range also includes wireless vinyl products. Mitchell Acoustics turntables can transmit audio over Bluetooth, while complete vinyl systems combine a turntable with compatible stereo speakers for a ready-made wireless record-playing setup.
Before choosing a vinyl system, check whether you need a turntable by itself or a complete package with speakers. Also confirm the available wired outputs if you intend to connect the turntable to existing hi-fi equipment.
Smart Home & Streaming
Mitchell Acoustics speakers use Bluetooth rather than requiring their own proprietary Wi-Fi platform. Compatible uStream speakers can be used with external devices such as Amazon Echo, Google Nest or WiiM streamers for voice control or wider smart-home audio integration.
Compatibility and available connections vary by model, so check the individual product specification for the equipment you intend to use.
Mitchell Acoustics FAQs
Are Mitchell Acoustics speakers sold as stereo pairs?
Yes. The main uStream home speaker systems use separate left and right speakers to create true two-channel stereo rather than reproducing both channels from one enclosure.
Do Mitchell Acoustics speakers need a separate amplifier?
No. uStream speaker systems are active, with amplification built into the speakers. They therefore do not require a separate conventional hi-fi amplifier.
Is there a cable between the left and right speakers?
No audio cable is required between compatible uStream left and right speakers because they communicate wirelessly with each other. The speakers still require their normal power connections.
Can Mitchell Acoustics speakers connect to a TV?
Selected models include television-friendly connections such as HDMI ARC and optical input. Check the specification of the individual speaker system before ordering because connection options vary between models.
Can I use Mitchell Acoustics speakers with Alexa or Google Home?
Compatible uStream speakers can receive audio via Bluetooth from devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Nest. They can also be used with compatible external streamers such as WiiM for additional streaming and smart-home functionality.
Does Mitchell Acoustics make turntables?
Yes. The uStream range includes Bluetooth turntables as well as complete wireless vinyl systems combining a turntable with stereo speakers.
