How the 114-litre Classic 90 FX oven works

The Classic 90 FX differs from many 90cm range cookers because its main attraction is one very large, adaptable cooking space rather than several permanently separate ovens. The 114-litre multifunction oven is useful when you need room for large roasting tins, several shelves of baking or bigger dishes.

For smaller meals, the removable Energy Saving Panel divides the oven. With the panel fitted, the right-hand section is heated rather than the full cavity. The unused side can use residual heat to take the chill off plates. When you need the full oven again, remove the panel and store it with the shelves in the full-width drawer below.

Seven-function multifunction cooking

The Classic 90 FX provides seven oven functions:

  • Fan oven for even heat and multi-shelf cooking.
  • Fanned grilling for circulated heat when grilling thicker foods.
  • Fan-assisted cooking using the fan with top and base heat.
  • Conventional cooking using top and base heating elements.
  • Browning for finishing already-cooked dishes such as gratins and lasagne.
  • Base heat for crisping pastry, pizza and quiche bases or gentle cooking.
  • Defrost using unheated circulating air.

An integrated electric grill provides full and half-grill operation. This makes the Classic 90 FX particularly suitable for buyers who value one adaptable oven and substantial usable width rather than several smaller fixed cavities.

Rangemaster Classic 90 FX Dual Fuel

The dual fuel Classic 90 FX combines the electric multifunction oven with a five-burner gas hob. Burner outputs range from 1kW to 4kW, with the largest multi-ring burner intended for higher-powered wok cooking. Cast-iron pan supports provide a stable cooking surface, and Rangemaster also supplies a teppanyaki-style griddle for use over the gas burners.

Installation requires both a suitable gas supply and an electrical connection. Rangemaster states a maximum electrical load of 3.65kW and a total natural-gas rating of 11.40kW for the dual fuel version. Confirm the final gas connection, electrical supply and required clearances with the installation instructions before delivery.

Rangemaster Classic 90 FX Induction

The induction Classic 90 FX replaces the gas burners with five induction zones. Power levels run from 1 to 9, while Power Boost can increase output on up to two zones at once. Rangemaster also provides L1 and L2 low-temperature settings for tasks such as melting and simmering, plus pan detection and hob safety functions.

The induction model has a maximum electrical load of 11.05kW, so it needs an appropriately specified electrical supply. Induction-compatible cookware is also required. Have the electrical installation checked before ordering rather than assuming an existing cooker circuit is suitable.

Classic 90 FX colours and trim options

The current Appliance Superstore range covers five Rangemaster colours:

  • Black
  • Cream
  • Mineral Green
  • Stone Blue
  • Slate

Each colour is currently offered with a choice of Brass or Chrome trim in both dual fuel and induction configurations. The colour and trim do not change the fundamental cooking layout, so choose the fuel type first and then select the finish that best suits your kitchen.

Classic 90 FX installation dimensions

Both fuel versions are nominally 90cm wide, but their depth and minimum height differ slightly. The dual fuel model measures 900mm wide, 608mm deep excluding handles and 669mm including handles, with an adjustable hotplate height of 906–930mm. The induction version is 900mm wide, 607mm deep excluding handles and 671mm including handles, with a height range of 905–930mm.

Check the manufacturer's installation instructions for ventilation, neighbouring cabinetry, cooker hood clearance and utility connections before ordering. Do not plan the installation using the nominal “90cm” description alone.

Rangemaster Classic 90 FX FAQs

What is the difference between a Rangemaster Classic 90 and Classic 90 FX?

The Classic 90 FX is a separate Rangemaster range rather than simply another colour of the standard Classic 90. Its defining feature is the large 114-litre adaptable oven with removable Energy Saving Panel. Current standard Classic 90 models use a different multi-cavity oven layout. Compare the oven arrangement as well as the styling before choosing between them.

Is the Rangemaster Classic 90 FX dual fuel or induction?

It is available in both. Dual fuel models use a five-burner gas hob with an electric multifunction oven, while induction models use five electric induction zones with the same 114-litre oven concept.

What does the Rangemaster Energy Saving Panel do?

The removable panel divides the large oven when you do not need its full capacity. With it fitted, only the right-hand cooking section is actively heated. Remove the panel when you need the complete 114-litre cavity.

How wide is a Rangemaster Classic 90 FX?

Both current dual fuel and induction versions are 900mm wide. Depth and adjustable height vary slightly between the two fuel types, so use the specification for your exact model when planning cabinetry and clearances.

Does the Classic 90 FX have one oven or two ovens?

It is best understood as one large adaptable cooking cavity. The Energy Saving Panel can divide the oven for smaller cooking loads, but the selling point is the ability to restore the full 114-litre space when required.

Does the induction Classic 90 FX need special cookware?

Yes. Induction requires pans with a suitable magnetic base. Check your existing cookware before installation and replace incompatible pans where necessary.

What warranty does the Rangemaster Classic 90 FX have?

Rangemaster provides up to two years of manufacturer warranty cover when the cooker is registered within 30 days of delivery, subject to its terms. Promotional extended warranties are offered on selected ranges from time to time, so check the eligibility of the exact Classic 90 FX model rather than assuming a site-wide Rangemaster promotion applies.
