Integrated Dishwashers – Fully & Semi-Integrated Models

Shop integrated dishwashers in full-size 60cm and slimline 45cm formats, including fully integrated and semi-integrated models. Compare place settings, energy class, noise level, cutlery storage, furniture-door requirements and installation dimensions before choosing the right dishwasher for your fitted kitchen.

Choose your integrated dishwasher

  • Fully integrated dishwashers – installed behind a matching kitchen furniture door, with the main controls normally concealed along the top edge of the appliance door.
  • Semi-integrated dishwashers – built into the kitchen while retaining a visible control panel or appliance fascia.
  • 45cm slimline integrated dishwashers – narrower models for kitchens where a conventional 60cm cabinet opening is unavailable.
  • 60cm full-size integrated dishwashers – the standard-width choice, generally offering greater place-setting capacity and basket space.
  • Integrated DishDrawer dishwashers – panel-ready drawer-format models that can be integrated into matching cabinetry.

Fully integrated or semi-integrated?

A fully integrated dishwasher is designed to disappear behind a matching furniture door. Its controls are normally positioned along the top of the appliance door so that they are hidden when the dishwasher is closed.

A semi-integrated dishwasher is also fitted into the kitchen, but part of its control panel or finished fascia remains visible. This can provide direct access to controls and programme information while retaining a fitted appearance.

Type Appearance Important checks

Semi-integrated Visible control panel or appliance fascia with built-in installation Exact door arrangement, visible finish, niche dimensions and furniture-panel requirements
45cm slimline Narrow built-in format Exact width, place settings, cabinet opening and furniture-panel dimensions
60cm full size Standard built-in format Capacity, basket layout, niche height and furniture-door compatibility

Measure the cabinet before ordering

Nominal width is only the starting point. Check the manufacturer's exact appliance width, height and depth together with the required cabinet opening. A dishwasher sold as 45cm or 60cm will normally measure slightly less than the nominal width so that it can fit within the corresponding kitchen cabinet space.

Also allow for the water inlet, waste hose and electrical connection. Hoses must be routed without being trapped or kinked when the dishwasher is pushed into the cabinet.

Furniture doors, hinges and plinth clearance

Fully integrated dishwashers normally require a kitchen furniture door, but the way that panel connects to the appliance varies. Some models use a sliding-door mechanism, while others use a different direct attachment or manufacturer-specific system.

Check the permitted furniture-door dimensions and weight as well as the hinge arrangement. This is particularly important when replacing an existing integrated dishwasher because two 60cm appliances are not necessarily interchangeable with the same furniture panel.

Plinth height also matters. Some sliding-door systems are designed to provide extra clearance as the dishwasher opens, which can be useful with low plinths or taller furniture fronts. Use the installation drawing for the exact model rather than selecting solely by appliance width.

45cm or 60cm integrated dishwasher?

A 45cm slimline integrated dishwasher is intended for narrower kitchen openings. Its capacity is normally lower than a conventional 60cm model, but it can still provide multiple basket levels, adjustable loading and dedicated cutlery storage.

A 60cm integrated dishwasher provides more internal width and is the better starting point where cabinet space allows and larger household loads are common. Compare place settings and basket design rather than assuming that every full-size model has the same usable capacity.

Place settings and basket capacity

Dishwasher capacity is stated in place settings. This is useful for comparing appliances of similar format, but real-world loading also depends on basket design, adjustable racks, folding supports and the type of cookware you regularly wash.

Current integrated dishwashers range from compact drawer and slimline configurations to larger full-size models. If you frequently wash tall glasses, large plates or saucepans, check maximum loading dimensions and basket adjustment as well as the headline place-setting figure.

Cutlery tray or cutlery basket?

A dedicated cutlery tray creates a separate upper loading level for cutlery and utensils and can free space in the lower basket. A removable cutlery basket uses space within the lower rack but can be quick to unload and reposition.

Some dishwashers provide both systems. Choose according to the way you normally load cutlery, cooking utensils and larger dishes rather than treating one arrangement as universally better.

Energy and water consumption

Integrated dishwashers use the current A to G energy-efficiency scale. Compare the energy class with the stated electricity consumption per 100 ECO cycles and the water consumption per ECO cycle.

Capacity should also be considered when comparing consumption. A larger dishwasher may use more energy per cycle while still washing a greater number of place settings in one load.

Quiet integrated dishwashers

Noise is particularly relevant where the kitchen is open to a living or dining area. Compare the manufacturer's stated airborne noise figure in decibels and the corresponding noise-emission class where supplied.

Lower stated dB figures indicate quieter measured operation, but the decibel scale is logarithmic. Installation quality and surrounding cabinetry can also influence the sound experienced in the room.

Automatic door-opening drying

Selected integrated dishwashers automatically open the door towards the end of the programme to release warm, moist air. Manufacturers use different names for this approach, including AEG AirDry, Miele AutoOpen and Barazza AutoDoor.

Automatic opening is a drying feature rather than an installation type. Check programme compatibility and allow appropriate clearance around the furniture front and worktop in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Smart integrated dishwashers

Selected integrated dishwashers offer genuine Wi-Fi or app connectivity for functions such as programme monitoring, notifications or selected remote controls. Smart functionality is model specific and should not be inferred simply because a dishwasher has automatic sensing or automatic door opening.

Integrated Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer models

Fisher & Paykel offers panel-ready Integrated DishDrawer dishwashers as an alternative to a conventional drop-door appliance. Single and Double Drawer configurations use pull-out washing compartments, and Double models can operate their two drawers independently.

For this category, distinguish the manufacturer's panel-ready Integrated models from its Contemporary Built-Under DishDrawer appliances. Built-Under versions have their own finished appliance fronts and are better compared within the wider Fisher & Paykel dishwasher range.

Integrated dishwasher FAQs

What is an integrated dishwasher?

An integrated dishwasher is installed within fitted kitchen cabinetry. Fully integrated models sit behind a matching furniture door, while semi-integrated models retain a visible control panel or fascia.

What is the difference between fully integrated and semi-integrated dishwashers?

A fully integrated dishwasher normally hides both the appliance front and controls behind the furniture door. A semi-integrated model remains built into the kitchen but keeps part of the control panel or finished fascia visible.

What size are integrated dishwashers?

The two main nominal widths are approximately 60cm for full-size models and 45cm for slimline models. Always use the exact millimetre dimensions and required cabinet opening for the individual appliance.

Does an integrated dishwasher come with the kitchen furniture door?

Usually not. The decorative furniture panel is generally supplied as part of the kitchen rather than with the dishwasher. Panel-ready models may also offer compatible manufacturer accessory panels, but these should not be assumed to be included.

Can I reuse my existing integrated dishwasher door?

Possibly, but check the new dishwasher's permitted panel dimensions, panel weight and hinge or sliding-door system first. A replacement with the same nominal width does not guarantee furniture-door compatibility.

What is a sliding-hinge dishwasher?

A sliding-door system allows the furniture front to move relative to the dishwasher door as it opens. This can help accommodate certain furniture-door and plinth arrangements. Installation requirements vary by manufacturer and model.

Is a 45cm integrated dishwasher big enough?

A 45cm slimline model can work well where kitchen width is restricted or household loads are smaller. Compare place settings and internal basket layout with your normal dishes before choosing it instead of a 60cm model.

What should I measure before buying an integrated dishwasher?

Check cabinet width, height and depth, furniture-door dimensions and weight, plinth clearance, hinge system and the positions of the water, waste and electrical connections.

Are all integrated dishwashers smart?

No. Wi-Fi and app connectivity are model-specific features. Many integrated dishwashers operate entirely from their own controls without network connectivity.
