How to choose the right cooling appliance
Built-in or freestanding?
Start with the installation type. Built-in and integrated cooling appliances fit into a kitchen housing, so the cabinet niche dimensions, ventilation requirements and furniture-door system must all match. Check whether the appliance uses a fixed door-on-door hinge or a sliding-door arrangement rather than assuming that all integrated models install in the same way.
Freestanding refrigerators and freezers do not need a furniture door, but they still require enough width, height and depth for the cabinet, ventilation and door opening. A fridge freezer combines both compartments in one footprint and is usually the most straightforward option when kitchen space is limited.

Frost-free cooling
Frost-free technology is particularly useful in freezer compartments because it reduces or removes the need for manual defrosting. Water and ice dispensers do not automatically mean that an appliance needs plumbing. Do frost-free fridge freezers need defrosting?

Do American-style fridge freezers need plumbing?
