Miele Moisture Plus vs Combination Steam Oven
What's the difference between Miele Moisture Plus and a combination steam oven? Moisture Plus introduces controlled bursts of steam during conventional baking and roasting. A Miele DGC combination steam oven also provides a dedicated steam-cooking function, allowing you to steam foods such as vegetables, fish and rice rather than simply adding moisture during oven cooking.
For greater flexibility, selected Miele DGC Pro appliances also offer independently adjustable combination cooking, bringing steam and conventional heat together within the same programme. This guide compares three Miele ovens from our current collection to help you decide which cooking functions you actually need.

Choose a DGC combination steam oven if you also want to steam vegetables, fish and other suitable foods. Consider a DGC Pro model if you want more precise control over how steam and conventional heat work together.
Compare Miele Ovens with Moisture Plus and Steam Cooking
Miele H 7164 BP: For Baking and Roasting with Added Moisture
The Miele H 7164 BP is a 76-litre built-in oven with Moisture Plus, conventional oven functions and pyrolytic self-cleaning. Moisture Plus adds bursts of steam during suitable cooking programmes, helping support bread baking and roasting without requiring a separate steam oven.
Choose this model if you mainly bake, roast and grill, and want additional moisture during conventional cooking. It does not offer a dedicated steam-cooking programme for preparing vegetables, fish or rice using steam alone.
Miele DGC 7350: For Conventional Cooking and Full Steam Cooking
The Miele DGC 7350 combines a 76-litre conventional oven with dedicated steam cooking and Moisture Plus. It provides the flexibility to bake or roast as normal, use moisture-assisted programmes, or cook suitable foods using steam.
This is a practical choice if you want genuine steam cooking without giving up a full-size oven cavity. The DGC 7350 uses a refillable water container and PerfectClean surfaces with maintenance programmes, rather than the pyrolytic cavity-cleaning system fitted to the H 7164 BP.
Miele DGC 7460 HC Pro: For More Advanced Combination Cooking
The Miele DGC 7460 HC Pro adds independently adjustable combination cooking, allowing steam and conventional heat to work together during suitable programmes. It also offers dedicated steam cooking, DualSteam technology and HydroClean maintenance.
Its 67-litre cavity is smaller than the 76-litre H 7164 BP and DGC 7350 ovens, so consider both the cooking functions and usable capacity. Choose the DGC 7460 HC Pro if advanced combination cooking is more important to you than maximising oven volume.
What Can You Cook with Moisture Plus?
Moisture Plus is particularly useful when baking bread and roasting dishes that benefit from controlled moisture during cooking. Steam bursts can support dough development, crust formation and moisture management while the oven continues to use conventional heating.
However, adding occasional steam bursts is not the same as operating a dedicated steam-cooking programme. If you regularly want to steam vegetables, fish, rice or other suitable foods, a DGC combination steam oven offers cooking functions that a conventional Moisture Plus oven does not provide.
Can a Miele Combination Steam Oven Replace a Conventional Oven?
Selected full-size Miele DGC models, including the DGC 7350, provide conventional oven functions alongside steam cooking. This means they can handle many everyday baking, roasting and grilling tasks while adding the option of preparing food using steam.
However, they are not identical to conventional ovens. Maximum temperatures, cooking programmes, cleaning methods and cavity capacities can differ. For example, the H 7164 BP reaches 300°C, while the DGC 7350 reaches 250°C in conventional oven operation.
If you're choosing a single appliance for a new kitchen, check the programmes you use most frequently before deciding whether a combination steam oven can replace your existing oven.
Steam Oven Installation and Maintenance
All three ovens compared here use a full-height built-in format, with a manufacturer-specified installation niche of 560–568mm wide, 590–595mm high and 550mm deep. Check the complete installation drawing, electrical requirements and ventilation instructions for your chosen model before ordering.
The DGC 7350 and DGC 7460 HC Pro use refillable water containers, so these particular models do not require a permanent mains water connection. They do require appropriate water-system maintenance, including descaling when instructed.
Cleaning is another important distinction. The H 7164 BP has pyrolytic self-cleaning, the DGC 7350 has PerfectClean surfaces and assisted maintenance programmes, and the DGC 7460 HC Pro offers HydroClean. Compare these separately from cooking functionality rather than assuming that every steam oven has the same cleaning system.
Which Miele Oven Should You Choose?
Choose the H 7164 BP if you primarily want conventional baking and roasting with occasional moisture-assisted cooking, plus pyrolytic self-cleaning.
Choose the DGC 7350 if you want a full-size oven that can also steam vegetables, fish and other suitable foods, without needing the more advanced combination controls of a DGC Pro model.
Choose the DGC 7460 HC Pro if you value independently controlled steam-and-heat combination cooking, premium steam functionality and HydroClean, and are comfortable with its smaller 67-litre capacity.
