Choosing an Elica hob
The first decision is whether you need a conventional induction hob or an Elica NikolaTesla model with extraction built into the cooking surface. After that, compare appliance width, number and layout of cooking zones, extraction installation and electrical requirements.

Elica induction hobs
Elica's conventional induction hobs provide induction cooking without a built-in extractor, so they are intended to work with a separate cooker hood or other kitchen ventilation system.
The Primis range currently includes compact and full-width formats. Depending on the model, options include two, three or four cooking zones, slider touch controls, Booster functions, power limitation and bridge zones for larger cookware.
Compact 30cm induction hobs
A 30cm Elica induction hob can be useful in smaller kitchens or as an additional cooking module. The current Primis 302 uses two induction zones in a compact format.
60cm and 80cm induction hobs
Wider Primis models provide three or four zones. Selected Plus models include a bridge function that combines compatible zones for larger pots, roasting pans or griddle-style cookware.
Elica NikolaTesla hobs with integrated extraction
NikolaTesla combines the cooking surface and extractor in one appliance. Steam, grease and cooking odours are drawn into an extraction inlet within the hob instead of relying on a conventional hood mounted above the cooking area.
This format is particularly useful for kitchen islands, open-plan rooms and installations where keeping the space above the hob clear is important. It does, however, require more installation planning beneath the worktop than a conventional hob.
Elica NikolaTesla Fit
NikolaTesla Fit is designed around compact installation. Current models include 60cm and 72cm versions, while Fit XL provides a wider 83cm cooking surface. Selected Fit models include bridge zones and automatic extraction adjustment.
Elica NikolaTesla Alpha B
Alpha B provides integrated induction cooking and extraction in 60cm and 78cm formats. Current models use four induction zones and can automatically adjust extraction according to the active cooking areas.
Elica NikolaTesla One and One HP
One models use an 83cm surface with centrally integrated extraction. One HP increases cooking flexibility with four large induction zones and two bridge areas, making it more suitable for oversized or elongated cookware.
Elica NikolaTesla Switch
Switch models use a central rotating or opening flap to reveal the extraction inlet. Depending on the version, the range includes automatic extraction functions, bridge zones and gloss or matt black finishes.
Elica NikolaTesla Libra
Libra combines induction cooking, integrated extraction and a built-in weighing scale. The scale can be used directly at the hob for weighing ingredients without moving them to a separate set of kitchen scales.
Elica NikolaTesla Unplugged
Unplugged differs from most Elica extractor hobs by using physical rotary controls alongside its induction cooking and integrated extraction. Its 90cm format provides four cooking zones with bridge functionality on current models.
Elica gas hobs with integrated extraction
NikolaTesla Flame combines gas burners with extraction built directly into the hob. This gives buyers who prefer cooking over a visible flame an alternative to the predominantly induction-based extractor-hob market.
Gas installation, ventilation and extraction requirements must all be considered when specifying a Flame hob. Always use the technical documentation for the exact model when planning cabinetry, gas connections and extraction.
Ducted or recirculating Elica extractor hob?
Ducted extraction
A ducted installation sends extracted air outside the property. This requires a suitable route through the kitchen furniture, plinth, floor or external wall. Plan the route before cabinets and worktops are finalised because duct layout can affect available storage space beneath the hob.
Recirculating extraction
A recirculating installation filters the extracted air before returning it to the room. This can be useful where external ducting is impractical, but the correct Elica filter and installation components must be specified for the hob and the chosen air-return route.
Do not assume that every NikolaTesla model includes every component required for both installation methods. Check whether the exact product is supplied as duct-out, filtering or configurable and identify any required installation kit before ordering.
Bridge zones and flexible cooking
Selected Elica induction hobs allow two compatible cooking zones to work together as a larger area. This is useful for elongated pans, griddle plates and cookware that does not sit conveniently on a single round induction zone.
The number of bridge zones varies. For example, current NikolaTesla One has one bridge area, while One HP uses two. Fit XL also provides two bridge zones, whereas several compact models use one.
Automatic extraction
Selected Elica extractor hobs use automatic extraction functions such as AutoCapture or Airmatic. These systems adjust extraction according to cooking activity, reducing the need to change fan speed manually while using the hob.
Automatic extraction should not be confused with Wi-Fi or app connectivity. It describes automatic control between the cooking and extraction functions inside the appliance.
Electrical and installation requirements
Most Elica induction and induction-extractor hobs require a dedicated electrical supply. Many full-width models have a connected load above 7kW, although selected products provide power-limitation settings to suit different electrical installations.
The appliance width is only one installation measurement. Also check the worktop cut-out, appliance depth below the worktop, minimum cabinet size, duct route or recirculation components, ventilation clearances and space required for drawers or storage.
Installation should be planned using the technical information for the exact Elica model rather than a nominal description such as 60cm, 80cm or 90cm.
Cleaning and filter maintenance
The glass cooking surface should be cleaned using products suitable for glass ceramic. On extractor models, grease-filter and air-inlet components also require regular cleaning.
Recirculating installations additionally rely on odour filtration. Filter construction and service life vary between product families, so replacement or regeneration intervals should follow the instructions supplied for the individual hob.

Elica Venting Hobs Ducted
All Elica venting hobs can be ducted to the outside by means of ducting pipe work, meaning all cooking vapours are expelled to the fresh air outside. Ducting can be run directly to the outside wall behind or run under the plinth (100mm) or under the floor in new build situations.
Elica Venting Hobs recirculation
Elica offer their venting hobs in recirculation versions to avoid the need to externally duct the appliance. These version are complete with everything you need to install in recirculation mode, including filters. Extra ducting can be purchased if you require a non conventional installation.
