Our current range includes integrated coffee machines in black, matt black, stainless steel, grey and beige finishes. Most models use a removable water tank, while selected Miele CVA machines offer a DirectWater mains connection. Use the filters to narrow the range by brand, colour and other verified product features, then check the individual installation dimensions before ordering.

Choosing a Built-In Coffee Machine

Check the Cabinet Dimensions First

Built-in coffee machines are designed for a fitted appliance housing, but their required niche dimensions are not identical. Many models are approximately 60cm wide and 45cm high at the front, while the required cabinet depth and internal cut-out vary by manufacturer. Always use the installation dimensions for the exact model rather than assuming that one 45cm coffee machine can replace another without checking the housing.

For example, AEG's current integrated models require a built-in space of approximately 450mm high, 560mm wide and 550mm deep, while the NEFF CL4TT11G0 specifies a 449mm high, 558mm wide and 376mm deep niche. Miele CVA models also have model-specific niche requirements.

Water Tank or Mains Water Connection

Most built-in coffee machines in the current range use a removable water container. This avoids the need for a dedicated water connection but means the tank must be refilled as required.

Selected Miele machines use DirectWater. The CVA 7445 and CVA 7845 can connect to the mains water supply, reducing routine refilling. The CVA 7440 and CVA 7840 are the corresponding tank-fed choices within their respective Miele ranges.

Bean-to-Cup Coffee

The built-in machines listed here use integrated grinders to prepare coffee from whole beans. Several also accept pre-ground coffee, which can be useful for an occasional different blend or decaffeinated coffee without emptying the main bean container.

Capacity varies between brands. Current AEG integrated coffee machines use a 350g grinder capacity and 2.5-litre removable water tank. The NEFF CL4TT11G0 combines a 400g bean container with a 2.4-litre removable water tank, while the Barazza 1CFEV family uses a 220g bean container and 1.8-litre removable tank.

Milk-Based Drinks

If cappuccino, flat white or latte macchiato are regular choices, compare the milk system as carefully as the grinder. Some models use a dedicated milk container, while others use a milk hose. Check how the system connects, which parts need refrigeration between uses and what cleaning is required after preparing milk drinks.

Cleaning and Descaling

Automatic does not mean every maintenance task disappears. Built-in machines can provide automatic rinsing, cleaning programmes, milk-system cleaning or descaling, but the level of automation varies substantially.

The Miele CVA 7840 and CVA 7845 include AutoClean and AutoDescale. The NEFF CL4TT11G0 uses Auto Milk Clean after milk drinks and also provides automatic cleaning and descaling programmes. Fisher & Paykel's EB60DSX1 includes a self-cleaning function with removable drip and grounds containers.

Smart Coffee Machines

Selected built-in models can connect to an app or smart-home platform. Current Miele CVA 7440, 7445, 7840 and 7845 models support Miele connectivity, while the NEFF CL4TT11G0 uses Home Connect. Connectivity varies by model, so it should be compared alongside installation and coffee functions rather than assumed across an entire brand.

Built-In Coffee Machine FAQs

Are built-in and integrated coffee machines the same thing?

Yes. In this category, built-in and integrated both describe coffee machines designed to fit within a kitchen appliance housing rather than sit freely on a worktop.

Do built-in coffee machines need plumbing?

No. Most models use a removable water tank and only need the appropriate cabinet space and electrical connection. Selected machines, including Miele DirectWater models, can use a mains water connection.

What size cabinet does a built-in coffee machine need?

There is no single universal cut-out. Many machines have a front width close to 60cm and a height around 45cm, but cabinet depth and niche dimensions vary. Check the manufacturer's installation drawing for the exact model before cabinetry is manufactured or altered.

Can built-in coffee machines use coffee beans?

Yes. The machines in the current built-in range use integrated grinders for whole coffee beans. Selected models can also use pre-ground coffee.

Can a built-in coffee machine make cappuccino and latte?

Yes. Many current machines include automatic or integrated milk systems for drinks such as cappuccino, latte macchiato and flat white. Milk-system design and cleaning requirements vary by model.

Which built-in coffee machines can be connected to the mains water supply?

Within the current Appliance Superstore range, Miele CVA 7445 and CVA 7845 models use DirectWater and can be connected to a mains water supply. Other models commonly use removable refillable tanks.

Are built-in coffee machines smart appliances?

Some are. Current Miele CVA models support Miele connectivity, while the NEFF CL4TT11G0 supports Home Connect. Check connectivity at individual model level because it is not standard across every machine.
