Shop AEG laundry by type
- AEG washing machines – choose from freestanding and integrated models with different drum capacities, spin speeds and steam-care features.
- Washer dryers – combine washing and drying in one appliance where there is not enough space for two separate machines.
- Tumble dryers – compare AEG heat pump dryers designed to dry at lower temperatures while reducing energy use and fabric exposure to heat.
Choosing an AEG laundry appliance
Start by deciding whether you need washing only, separate washing and drying appliances, or one machine that can do both. A separate washing machine and tumble dryer normally gives you greater total capacity and allows one load to dry while another is washing. A washer dryer saves floor space but has a lower drying capacity than its washing capacity.
AEG washing machines
AEG washing machines are available in freestanding and integrated formats. Compare drum capacity, maximum spin speed, appliance depth and energy rating as well as programme choice. Current models include capacities suited to everyday loads through to larger households, with selected machines adding steam refresh, SoftWater fabric care and app connectivity.
AEG washer dryers
A washer dryer combines both functions in one cabinet, making it useful where space for a separate dryer is limited. Always compare the washing and drying capacities separately: a machine may wash a full drum but require a smaller load when completing a continuous wash-and-dry programme.
AEG heat pump tumble dryers
Current AEG tumble dryers use heat pump technology. Instead of relying on the higher temperatures associated with traditional condenser drying, a heat pump recirculates warm air through the appliance. This reduces energy consumption and allows clothing to be dried at lower temperatures.
AEG laundry technology explained
| Feature | What it does | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| ProSteam | Uses steam to refresh suitable garments, helping reduce odours and creasing without necessarily running a complete wash. | Selected washing machines and washer dryers |
| ProSense / ProSense+ | Uses load sensing to adapt programme time and resource use to the amount of laundry in the drum. | Selected washers, washer dryers and dryers |
| PowerCare | Helps activate and distribute detergent efficiently for effective cleaning at lower temperatures and on shorter programmes. | Selected washing machines and washer dryers |
| UniversalDose | Uses a detergent drawer designed to dissolve and activate compatible detergent pods as well as conventional detergent. | Selected premium laundry appliances |
| SoftWater / AbsoluteCare | Filters minerals from incoming water on selected washing machines to improve detergent effectiveness and help protect colour and fabric shape. | Selected 9000 Series washing machines |
| SensiDry | Uses heat pump technology and sensors to dry clothing at controlled lower temperatures. | Selected tumble dryers |
| AbsoluteCare | Uses controlled drum movement and drying temperatures for fabrics that require more precise care. | Selected premium tumble dryers |
| 3DScan | Measures moisture deeper inside thicker items to help dry fillings such as down more evenly. | Selected 9000 Series tumble dryers |
| AEG connectivity | Allows compatible models to work with the AEG app for selected remote controls, cycle settings and laundry guidance. | Selected connected models only |
What washing-machine capacity do you need?
Washing capacity is measured in kilograms of dry laundry. A larger drum can accommodate bigger household loads and bulky items, but buying more capacity than you normally use is not automatically beneficial.
- 7–8kg: practical for smaller households and everyday loads.
- 9kg: provides additional room for larger mixed loads and bedding.
- 10kg: useful for larger households or frequent bulky loads.
Load sensing on compatible AEG machines helps adjust programme settings when the drum is not full, but capacity should still reflect the amount of laundry you normally wash.
Integrated or freestanding laundry appliances?
A freestanding washing machine or washer dryer remains visible and can normally be installed beneath a suitable worktop or in a utility room. An integrated model is designed to sit behind a kitchen furniture door.
Do not choose solely from the nominal 60cm appliance width. Check the full height, width and maximum depth, including hoses and door clearance. Integrated machines also require the correct cabinet opening, furniture door and hinge arrangement.
AEG tumble dryers in the current range are freestanding appliances. Selected washing machines and washer dryers are available in built-in form.
Washing-machine spin speed explained
A higher maximum spin speed can remove more water from suitable fabrics at the end of the wash, which can reduce subsequent drying time. Current AEG models include machines rated up to 1400rpm and 1600rpm.
The machine will not necessarily use its maximum spin speed on every programme. Delicate, wool and other fabric-specific cycles can use lower speeds to provide more appropriate garment care.
Washer-dryer capacity: washing and drying are different
Always check both capacity figures on an AEG washer dryer. The drying capacity is normally lower than the washing capacity because clothing requires additional space in the drum for effective drying.
If you regularly want to wash and immediately dry a full load without removing items between cycles, compare the wash-and-dry capacity particularly carefully. For households processing large volumes of laundry, separate washing and drying appliances can provide greater throughput.
Why choose an AEG heat pump tumble dryer?
Heat pump dryers recirculate warm air and dry laundry at lower temperatures than traditional condenser dryers. This improves energy efficiency and reduces unnecessary heat exposure for fabrics.
AEG's SensiDry models use sensors to control drying conditions, while selected AbsoluteCare models also adapt drum movement and temperature for fabrics including wool and silk. Premium models add technologies such as 3DScan for thicker items including padded jackets and duvets.
Energy ratings across different laundry appliances
Washing machines, washer dryers and tumble dryers should not be compared using the letter on the energy label alone. They are different appliance types and can use different energy-labelling calculations.
For a washer dryer, check both wash-only efficiency and the wash-and-dry figure. For a tumble dryer, compare energy class together with energy consumption per cycle or per 100 cycles where provided. Also consider capacity, as a larger appliance completing fewer full loads may suit some households better than a smaller machine running more frequently.
Noise and laundry-room location
Noise matters most where laundry appliances are installed in kitchens or open-plan living areas. Washing-machine noise figures normally relate to the spin phase, while tumble-dryer noise is measured during drying.
Compare decibel values only between equivalent appliance types. A difference of a few decibels can be noticeable, but installation also matters: machines should be level, stable and correctly positioned to reduce avoidable vibration.
Can AEG washing machines and tumble dryers be stacked?
Compatible freestanding washing machines and tumble dryers can be stacked where AEG approves the appliance combination and a suitable stacking kit is used. Do not place a tumble dryer directly on top of a washing machine without the correct compatible kit.
Check appliance depth, width and stacking-kit compatibility before ordering. The washing machine normally sits at the bottom because it is heavier and produces greater movement during spinning.
AEG laundry FAQs
What types of AEG laundry appliance are available?
The current Appliance Superstore range includes AEG washing machines, washer dryers and heat pump tumble dryers. Washing machines and washer dryers include both freestanding and selected built-in models, while the current tumble-dryer range is freestanding.
What does AEG ProSteam do?
ProSteam provides steam-based garment care on selected AEG washing machines and washer dryers. Steam Refresh can freshen suitable lightly worn garments and help reduce wrinkles without requiring a complete wash cycle.
What is AEG SensiDry?
SensiDry is used on AEG heat pump tumble dryers to control drying at lower temperatures. Sensors monitor drying conditions so clothes are exposed only to the heat required to reach the selected dryness level.
Should I buy a washer dryer or separate machines?
A washer dryer saves space because both functions share one cabinet. Separate machines generally provide greater drying capacity and allow washing and drying to take place simultaneously. Your available space and normal laundry volume should determine which arrangement is more practical.
Why is washer-dryer drying capacity lower than washing capacity?
Clothes need more free drum space when drying than when washing. This means a washer dryer that accepts a larger wash load may require some items to be removed before drying the remainder.
Are all AEG laundry appliances smart?
No. App connectivity is available only on selected AEG models. Check the individual appliance specification for connectivity rather than assuming a particular series or branded laundry feature automatically includes smart control.
What is AEG AbsoluteCare?
AbsoluteCare is used on selected premium AEG laundry appliances. On washing machines it can include technologies designed to protect fabrics and colours, while AbsoluteCare tumble dryers use controlled drum movement and temperature to provide more precise drying for different textiles.
Do AEG tumble dryers need an external vent?
The current AEG tumble dryers at Appliance Superstore use heat pump technology and do not require an external exhaust vent. Water is condensed inside the appliance and collected in a container or can be discharged through a compatible drain arrangement.
