DOWNDRAFT EXTRACTOR

The main advantage of downdraft hoods is the sleek design and space-saving opportunities that the unit has to offer. The hood retracts in and out of your worksurface when you need it- saving invaluable space and maintaining the contemporary and minimalist look in your kitchen or open plan area.
Downdraft hoods are installed behind a hob, reversing the direction of rising smoke and fumes to a downward direction.
The design of the unit lends itself perfectly to a kitchen island, although in traditional work surface settings, the extractor can sit close to the wall behind the hob.

MINIMALIST DESIGN

Optimising the space in a kitchen can always be a tricky task – especially when you’re tight for room. It’s important to make the most of your cooking area and ensure that every inch is being used effectively. A current trend that has been steadily growing over the past few years is the introduction of retractable extractors, such as the Smeg island downdraft hood. Great for comtemporary, open plan spaces.

This hood can be vented or recirculated with induction and ceramic hobs. However, when using a gas hob, it is only possible to vent out.

Ducting out extracts cooking fumes and expels them outside, using a vent kit (available as an optional accessory) The diameter of the ducting hose should match the vent outlet of the hood.

Re-circulating extracts the cooking fumes and passes them through active charcoal filters (available as an optional accessory), recirculating the cleaned air back into the room. To find out which charcoal filter your hood needs, check the accessory tab on the hoods specification.

INTENSIVE EXTRACTION

A powerful intensive speed can be selected when quick extraction is needed, whether you’re creating a sizzling stir fry or preparing an aromatic curry, even the strongest cooking odours will be removed in no time.

LED LIGHTING

These lights are long lasting, save money and perfectly illuminate the work surface below. They can be switched on regardless of the fans, and used simply to create ambiance lighting in the kitchen.

PERIMETER EXTRACTION

This is an extremely efficient extraction process where vapors are drawn in through a restricted area of the hood quickly and then decrease once inside which reduces noise as it limits the vibrations of the filters.

CLEAN AIR

The 24h air exchange function makes the hood work for 10 minutes every hour at very low speed and therefore without noise for a total of 24 hours in order to purify the air of the house, with low energy impact.
