AmbientLight, Con@ctivity and smart control

The AmbientLight feature adds individual coloured lighting for a more inviting kitchen atmosphere. Lighting performance includes 1 x 12W + 1 x 8W, with an intensity of 400 lx, a 3500 Kelvin colour temperature, dimmer function and ambient lighting colour adjustment.

With Miele@home and Con@ctivity, the vapour extractor activates automatically during cooking and adjusts air throughput to the hob settings to help maintain a pleasant room climate. If preferred, operation can also adapt to manual changes in power level. During pyrolytic cleaning of the oven, the cooker hood switches on automatically to help prevent odours.

Efficient filtration and easy cleaning

The Miele DAD6980 features edge extraction and a 10-ply stainless-steel grease filter for effective grease removal. The commercial-style metal grease filters are concealed behind a decorative cover, with cooking vapours drawn in at the outer edges for a streamlined appearance.

Miele’s CleanCover canopy interior helps make cleaning easier. Behind the grease filters, the sealed smooth surface replaces sharp metal edges and exposed electrical components, improving both convenience and safety.

Filter maintenance is also straightforward thanks to the grease filter saturation indicator and active charcoal filter saturation indicator. A red LED shows when filters need cleaning or replacement, and the factory-set service life can be adjusted to suit usage.

Recirculation flexibility and optional accessories

This model supports easy recirculation mode installation with the Plug&Play accessory set. Using DUP 150, planning and installation are quick and easy without a separate ducting system or additional plinth box.

The air guide can be retrofitted, and the recirculation conversion kit is available separately as DUU 600 or DUP 150. Optional active charcoal filters are available separately as DKF 30-P and DKF 30-R. The extractor also features a bottom exhaust duct and a 150mm extraction ducting connection.

Performance, noise levels and efficiency

The ECO motor and dual-action blower support strong extraction performance while maintaining efficient operation. Miele states that its ECO motors work up to 50% more economically than conventional motors while remaining very quiet and powerful.

In standard operation, sound power levels are 43 dB(A) at Level 1, 55 dB(A) at Level 2 and 62 dB(A) at Level 3 according to EN 60704-3. Booster sound power levels reach 69 dB(A) and 71 dB(A). Sound pressure levels range from 30 dB(A) at Level 1 up to 57 dB(A) at Booster level 2 according to EN 60704-2-13.

A second set of performance figures is also provided according to EN 61591 and EN 60704 standards, with air throughput up to 420 m³/h at Level 3 and up to 560 m³/h at Booster level 2, alongside sound power levels up to 75 dB(A) and sound pressure levels up to 62 dB(A).

Dimensions and installation details

The canopy dimensions are 936 x 708 x 171mm (W x H x D), with a glass frame width of 936mm. The minimum base unit width is 900mm, and the cut-out dimensions for surface-mounted installation are 815mm wide by 106mm deep.

For flush-fit installation, internal cut-out dimensions are 815mm wide by 106mm deep, while external dimensions are 940mm wide by 124mm deep. The overall hood height for both extraction and recirculation modes is 1008 to 1288mm.

The extractor is suitable for installation on the unit floor and installation on floor, with options for flush-fit installation, surface-mounted installation and joint installation with hob in one cut-out. The optimum combination with hob, subject to availability, is KM 8695 FL.

Additional features and electrical specifications

Additional features include run-on time options of 5 or 15 minutes, a PowerManagement system, safety shut-off and single-ply safety glass (ESG). The automatic safety switch-off turns the cooker hood off after 10 hours.
